Scam alert |

|
We have received several reports this evening from people across the country who have been cold-called by someone purporting to be an officer from Durham Constabulary. The offender has attempted to con people into giving their personal details, including addresses, bank details, and driving licence details. The number displayed by the scammer is 0345 6060 365, which is the old number used by their force control room before changing to 101. The police or other reputable organisations will never ask you for your bank account details. They will also never ask you to confirm personal details over the phone like this. If you are unsure whether a call is genuine, please end the call and contact a family member, a trusted individual, or call us on 101 for advice. As these fraudsters often target the elderly or the vulnerable, we’re asking you to warn your parents, grandparents, and elderly neighbours. If you or someone you know has been targeted by this scam, call Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or contact them via their website, www.reportfraud.police.uk Reports can also be made to police on 101. | ||
